Collision - Photography Exhibition
Atelier NIRIS is proud to host Collision, a photography exhibition by Taiwanese artist Weichen Hsu. Known for his focus on candid, human-centered street photography, Hsu’s work offers a raw and authentic glimpse into the changing urban fabric of Shanghai - far from its polished, metropolitan image.
The exhibition showcases moments of daily life, captured over a decade of wandering through the city’s lesser-known streets. His photographs highlight fleeting interactions, overlooked details, and the resilience of ordinary people amidst the rapid transformation of their surroundings.
Atelier NIRIS has carefully transformed its studio at Herenstraat 73, Leiden, into an intimate exhibition space. A central table presents a curated selection of framed prints, inviting visitors to engage with the work up close. The walls display images in varying formats: fabric panels with framed photographs suspended on transparent wire, large-scale prints directly mounted on black board, and one striking oversized image that dominates an entire wall. Ceiling-mounted spotlights ensure every photograph is thoughtfully illuminated.
Originally conceived as a residential space, the interior’s versatility now allows it to host exhibitions, reflecting Atelier NIRIS’ dedication to blending architecture with artistic expression.
