Dongguan Container Shopping Complex
Together with TOPO architecture, Atelier NIRIS has finished a concept design for Dongguan Container Shopping Complex.
Dongguan is a booming city famous for small commodities that has been shipping all over the world. The rapid developement of the transportation lead to the end of the well-served bus station and now it needs a new purpose.
As an important and nostalgic gathering spot for local workers, we try to keep the good memories as many as possible while still adding fresh and eye-catching elements to make the transformation feasible. The existing buildings will be kept and renovated into new functions. The bus parking area will be giving a new purpose in a more unique way.
The design is divided into different phases due to the contract between the landlord and our client. The first 10-year phase is to make the plot alive and popular within the minimum budget. Thus our team consider the container shopping street as the best solution.
The design is carried out with a deep research around the container possibilities, from large scale goup formation, singel unit typologies, facade design, colour choices, to lighting design etc.
